The Office for Film, Newspaper and Article Administration (OFNAA), the Hong Kong Evangelical Church School Services Team and Commercial Radio 2 will jointly organise the Interschool Healthy Rap Contest 2012 to promote the understanding of the Control of Obscene and Indecent Articles Ordinance (COIAO) among the youth, and to remind them to stay away from unhealthy information.
The theme of the contest is "Healthy Information for a Healthy Mind". Primary and secondary school students are welcome to join the contest by submitting entries from tomorrow (November 15) to January 31. Participants may enter the contest as an individual or as a team. They can also choose to sing the theme song written for the contest by the organisers or write new lyrics for the theme song or other rap songs. Details of the contest and enrolment forms are available at the website rap.hkecss.hk.
There will be a champion, two runners-up, three merit prizes and a prize for the best lyric writing for the contest. An independent judging panel will select six winning individuals/teams who will give a live performance in the finale contest to be held in April. Panel members will include famous artist Mr Hanjin Tan and representatives from the organisers.
To further enhance participants' understanding of the techniques of singing rap songs and writing lyrics, the organisers will organise three free workshops in December and January. For registration details, please visit the website rap.hkecss.hk.
Each year, OFNAA organises a wide range of public education programmes to enhance public understanding of the COIAO and to encourage the youth to develop healthy online habits. These programmes include the Healthy Mobile Phone/Tablet Apps Nomination Programme; the Meritorious Websites Contest; the Healthy Internet Video Contest; the Healthy Information Student Ambassadors Scheme; a roving drama programme for schools; drawing, slogan and poster colouring competitions; radio dramas; and talks on the proper use of the Internet for students and parents.
