The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a food factory in Mong Kok to suspend business for 21 days.
The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by failing to store open food properly within the premises and allowing staff to prepare open food in an open space.
The food factory, located at Shops D1 and D2 on the ground floor of Po On Building at No. 30-36 Mong Kok Road, was ordered to suspend business from today (August 18) to September 7.
"Between the end of 2010 and February this year, four convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.
"A total fine of $5,500 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in seven-day and 14-day business suspensions running consecutively," he added.
The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
