The Judiciary today (December 12) announced the appointment of the Honourable Mr Justice Michael Victor Lunn, Judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court, as Justice of Appeal of the Court of Appeal of the High Court. The appointment will take effect from December 13, 2011.
The appointment was made by the Chief Executive on the recommendation of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission.
The biographical note of the Honourable Mr Justice Lunn is as follows:
The Honourable Mr Justice Lunn was born in 1950 in Zimbabwe. He obtained a B.A. (Law) and an M.A. degree from Cambridge University in 1972 and 1976 respectively. He was called to the English Bar (Inner Temple) in 1973 and the Hong Kong Bar in 1981. In 1994, he was appointed Queen's Counsel. He was in private practice in the United Kingdom from 1974 to 1977 and worked in the Attorney-General's Chambers in Hong Kong from 1977 to 1981. From 1982 to 2003, he was in private practice in Hong Kong. He was the Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association from January 2001 to January 2003. He was appointed Recorder of the Court of First Instance of the High Court in 2000 until his appointment as a Judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court in September 2003.
