Two employers ordered to pay MPF non-payments

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (April 2) obtained an order in the District Court against an employer for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $200,000.

    The court issued judgement against Chan Luk Kee Sea Food Restaurant Limited. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA $202,801.74, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 20 employees.

    The District Court yesterday (April 1) issued judgement against Tai Cheong Fashion and Uniform Co Limited. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA $98,425.92, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to five employees.

    The amounts awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court ordered the respective defendants to each pay costs of $930.
