LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST

HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.


 
THE WEATHER WAS EXTREMELY HOT OVER GUANGDONG. SHOWERS
TRIGGERED BY HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE AFFECTING THE REGION.
LOCALLY, UNTIL 3 P.M., THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORDED AT
THE OBSERVATORY WAS 35.7 DEGREES, THE HOTTEST MID-AUTUMN
FESTIVAL EVER RECORDED, ALSO THE HIGHEST SO FAR THIS YEAR.
BESIDES, A NORTHEAST MONSOON IS AFFECTING THE COAST OF
GUANGDONG.


 
THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE CENTRAL PART OF THE SOUTH
CHINA SEA HAS INTENSIFIED INTO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION.
AT 4 P.M., THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION WAS CENTRED ABOUT 440
KILOMETRES EAST OF XISHA. IT IS FORECAST TO MOVE WEST AT
ABOUT 20 KILOMETRES PER HOUR ACROSS THE CENTRAL PART OF THE
SOUTH CHINA SEA.
 
TROPICAL STORM PULASAN WAS CENTRED ABOUT 1010 KILOMETRES
EAST-SOUTHEAST OF OKINAWA. IT IS FORECAST TO MOVE
WEST-NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 38 KILOMETRES PER HOUR ACROSS THE
WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC TOWARDS THE VICINITY OF THE RYUKYU
ISLANDS.
 
TROPICAL STORM BEBINCA HAS WEAKEN INTO A TROPICAL
DEPRESSION. BEBINCA WAS CENTRED ABOUT 270 KILOMETRES
WEST-NORTHWEST OF NANJING. IT IS FORECAST TO MOVE WEST AT
ABOUT 15 KILOMETRES PER HOUR INLAND OVER EASTERN CHINA AND
DISSIPATE GRADUALLY.


 
WEATHER FORECAST FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT


 
EXTREMELY HOT WITH SUNNY PERIODS IN THE AFTERNOON. THE
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WILL BE ABOUT 35 DEGREES. BECOMING
CLOUDY WITH A FEW SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS LATER.
MODERATE NORTHEASTERLY WINDS, BECOMING EASTERLIES TONIGHT,
FRESH OFFSHORE.


 
OUTLOOK : MAINLY FINE ON THE DAY AFTER MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL.
IT WILL BE WINDY. THERE WILL BE SUNNY INTERVALS AND A FEW
SHOWERS IN THE FOLLOWING COUPLE OF DAYS. WINDS WILL
STRENGTHEN FROM THE NORTH EARLY NEXT WEEK. IT WILL BE
SLIGHTLY COOLER.
