LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST

HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.


 
GENERAL SITUATION


SUPER TYPHOON YAGI SKIRTED PAST ABOUT THREE HUNDRED
KILOMETRES TO THE SOUTHWEST OF HONG KONG YESTERDAY MORNING.
THE ASSOCIATED GALE WINDS AFFECTED THE TERRITORY. YAGI
MOVED AWAY FROM HONG KONG GRADUALLY DURING THE DAY, AND
MADE LANDFALL NEAR WENCHANG, HAINAN ISLAND IN THE
AFTERNOON. LOCALLY, IT WAS CLOUDY WITH SQUALLY HEAVY
SHOWERS, VIOLENT GUSTS AND THUNDERSTORMS. MORE THAN 50
MILLIMETRES OF RAINFALL WERE GENERALLY RECORDED OVER THE
TERRITORY, AND RAINFALL EVEN EXCEEDED 150 MILLIMETRES OVER
THE NORTHEASTERN PART OF THE NEW TERRITORIES. YAGI WILL
MOVE ACROSS BEIBU WAN TODAY, TOWARDS THE NORTHERN PART OF
VIETNAM AND WEAKEN GRADUALLY. THERE WILL STILL BE SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORM OVER THE COAST OF GUANGDONG AT FIRST
TODAY. WITH YAGI DEPARTING AND WEAKENING, SHOWERS WILL EASE
OFF GRADUALLY OVER THE COAST OF GUANGDONG EARLY NEXT WEEK.


 
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG


 
FRESH TO STRONG EAST TO SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS, OCCASIONALLY
GALE FORCE OFFSHORE AND ON HIGH GROUND AT FIRST. WINDS WILL
WEAKEN GRADUALLY. MAINLY CLOUDY WITH SHOWERS AND SEVERE
SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS. SHOWERS WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES AT
FIRST WITH VIOLENT GUSTS. TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE BETWEEN
26 AND 30 DEGREES. SEAS WILL BE ROUGH WITH SWELLS.


 
OUTLOOK : IT WILL BE BRIGHTER AND SHOWERS WILL EASE OFF
GRADUALLY IN THE FOLLOWING COUPLE OF DAYS.
