LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST

HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.


 
WINDS ARE WEAK AND THE WEATHER IS MAINLY FINE OVER THE
COAST OF SOUTHERN CHINA. MEANWHILE, AN UPPER-AIR
DISTURBANCE IS AFFECTING EASTERN CHINA. THE ASSOCIATED
SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO EDGE CLOSER TO SOUTHERN CHINA LATER
TOMORROW.


 
SEVERE TYPHOON SHANSHAN HAS INTENSIFIED INTO A SUPER
TYPHOON. AT 10 P.M., SHANSHAN WAS CENTRED ABOUT 320
KILOMETRES SOUTH OF KAGOSHIMA. IT IS FORECAST TO MOVE
NORTH-NORTHWEST SLOWLY AND EDGE CLOSER TO KYUSHU OF JAPAN.


 
WEATHER FORECAST FOR TONIGHT AND TOMORROW


 
MAINLY FINE AT FIRST. A FEW SHOWERS TOMORROW. THE MINIMUM
TEMPERATURE WILL BE ABOUT 28 DEGREES. EXTREMELY HOT WITH
SUNNY PERIODS DURING THE DAY. THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WILL
BE AROUND 35 DEGREES IN THE URBAN AREAS, AND A COUPLE OF
DEGREES HIGHER IN THE NEW TERRITORIES. SHOWERS WILL BE
HEAVY AT TIMES IN SOME AREAS WITH A FEW SQUALLY
THUNDERSTORMS LATER. LIGHT TO MODERATE WESTERLY WINDS.


 
OUTLOOK : OCCASIONAL SHOWERS AND A FEW SQUALLY
THUNDERSTORMS ON THURSDAY. SUNNY INTERVALS AND A FEW
SHOWERS IN THE FOLLOWING COUPLE OF DAYS.
