In this summer event, topics of energy transition, logistics and sustainable initiatives were discussed among industry leaders from the Dutch and European business communities to learn the latest trends in approaching these global challenges, and how Hong Kong can contribute towards building a resilient and sustainable international economy.
The Special Representative for Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs to the European Union, Ms Shirley Yung, shared in her speech about Hong Kong's green commitments, in particular for the logistics industry. Among other initiatives, Hong Kong has set out concrete measures to spearhead the use of new energy transport, support the use of sustainable aviation fuel by aircraft and clean energy by ocean-going vessels, provide maritime green-fuel bunkering, and incentivise Hong Kong-registered ships to decarbonise. Hong Kong does not only facilitate the transformation of its logistics industry towards zero emissions, but also promotes smart initiatives and digitalisation in the logistics industry. Furthermore, Hong Kong is promoting green finance with technology to help green projects and companies worldwide to acquire necessary capital faster and easier, in a way making a contribution to sustainability.
"Hong Kong will continue to capitalise on our role as a logistics, financial and innovation centre, and join hands with our global partners in contributing to the green transformation", Ms Yung highlighted. She concluded by saying that Hong Kong is Asia's hub for business and talent, and encouraged Dutch and European businesses to keep using Hong Kong as the prime gateway to connect with China, Asia and the rest of the world.
