******************************************************************************************
The exhibition "Timeless Diva: Anita Mui", held at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum (HKHM) to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the passing of superstar Anita Mui, has been widely welcomed by the local public and visitors since its opening on December 24 last year. It received its 200 000th visitor today (May 2).

To celebrate this special moment, the Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Raistlin Lau, and the Assistant Director (Heritage and Museums) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Ms Esa Leung, visited the HKHM today to present a gift pack to the 200 000th visitor of the exhibition. The gifts included an exhibition poster autographed by Mr Eddie Lau, a close friend of Mui and prominent fashion and image designer, a special souvenir designed by him, an exhibition postcard, and complimentary tickets for the Hong Kong Film Archive's screening programme "Of Fists and Swords - Kaleidoscope of Hong Kong Martial Arts Films".

The 200 000th visitor of the "Timeless Diva: Anita Mui" exhibition, Mr Liu and Ms Liu, are tourists from Guangzhou and Shenzhen. They visited the museum for the first time to pay tribute to the legacy of the superstar. Their favourite part of the exhibition was the video showcasing Mui's ever-changing images. They were also deeply impressed by the white wedding gown worn by Mui at her last concert in 2003, which is on display at the permanent exhibition "Hong Kong Pop 60+".

The "Timeless Diva: Anita Mui" exhibition will run until September 2 with free admission, showcasing 70 sets of precious exhibits in relation to Mui including eight classic stage costumes, trophies for music and films, autographed vinyl records, film posters, film stills and a black-and-white sketch, which allow visitors to understand the stories of this superstar and how she strived to achieve success.

The HKHM will also hold the "Anita Mui: Diva Forever" talk on May 4 (Saturday) from 3pm to 5pm, at 1/F Theatre. The speaker, Professor Stephen Chu, who is Professor and Director of Hong Kong Studies Programme of the University of Hong Kong and Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Humanities, will examine how Mui captivated audiences with her ever-changing images on stage and on screen and evolved to become a fashion icon in her own right. The talk will be conducted in Cantonese with free admission. Audience members will be admitted to the Theatre 15 minutes before the programme commences. Limited seats will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Besides the "Timeless Diva: Anita Mui" exhibition, other exhibitions at the HKHM include the "A Path to Glory - Jin Yong's Centennial Memorial, Sculpted by Ren Zhe" exhibition, which showcases 22 sculptors of Jin Yong's characters created by renowned sculptor Ren Zhe; and the "Hong Kong Pop 60+" permanent exhibition, which illustrates the development of Hong Kong popular culture through more than 1 000 exhibits related to Hong Kong popular music, film, and television and radio programmes, as well as comics and toys.
