The two-day forum, themed "Sustainable Transport: Working Together to Promote Global Development", was hosted by the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China and organised by the Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center. Representatives from transport authorities and related enterprises from various countries attended the forum to exchange views on five key themes, namely connectivity, common development, innovation-driven development, eco-sound development and global governance.

On the sidelines of the forum, Mr Lam met with Vice Minister of Transport Mr Li Yang, and briefed him on the recovery of Hong Kong's aviation industry; the latest developments of the three-runway system at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA); the Labour Importation Scheme for the Transport Sector launched by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in July to relieve the acute manpower shortage in the aviation industry and the public light bus/coach trade in the city; the co-operation between HKIA and Zhuhai Airport; enhanced High Speed Rail services at the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link; measures to promote Hong Kong as a leading international maritime centre, and more.

He was briefed by the company's representatives on its autonomous driving service platform, Apollo Go; its monitoring platform for the overall operation of unmanned autonomous vehicles; and how autonomous vehicles can cope with complex traffic conditions on open roads in the Yizhuang demonstration zone.
