Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected crack cocaine and suspected liquid crack cocaine worth about $2.3 million (with photo)

During an anti-narcotics operation conducted in Kowloon Tong yesterday afternoon, Customs officers intercepted a man and found about 550g of suspected liquid crack cocaine inside his paper bag. The man was subsequently arrested. Customs officers later escorted the man to a residential premises nearby for a search and further seized about 1.3kg of suspected crack cocaine and a batch of drug packaging paraphernalia there.
The arrested man, who claimed to be unemployed, is 33 years old. He has been charged with two counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (September 22).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
