47 government grades hold career fair at Hong Kong Baptist University campus (with photos)

The Government Career Fair introduced to students the work and recruitment arrangements of 47 grades, including Administrative Officer (AO), Executive Officer II (EOII), Assistant Labour Officer II (ALOII), Management Services Officer II (MSOII), Transport Officer II (TOII), Student Air Traffic Control Officer, Cadet Pilot, Statistician, Technical Officer, Analyst/Programmer II, Assistant Information Officer, Assistant Programme Officer, Assistant Curator II, education-related posts, as well as various positions in the disciplined services.
Mrs Yeung said the Government is the largest employer in Hong Kong and its jobs cover different fields and professions. She suggested that students learn more about the employment opportunities offered by different grades to young people, and the career fair provides students with useful recruitment information that can help them plan their careers at an earlier stage. Students could ask colleagues questions at the career fair, which would be helpful for them to apply for these jobs in the future.
She added that a total of 5 300 university students had applied for the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) and the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST) (Degree/Professional Grades) to be held in October this year, which is more than double the number of applicants in the previous round of the examination held in June. Among the university students who have applied for the examination in October, nearly 30 per cent are in their third year of study. These indicate that government jobs are very attractive to university students. At present, 22 grades have expanded the pool of eligible candidates to undergraduate or postgraduate students in their penultimate year of study. She encouraged students graduating in 2025 to apply for these jobs, including the six civil service degree grades which are currently under a joint recruitment exercise.
The Government's joint recruitment exercise for appointment as AO, EOII, ALOII, Assistant Trade Officer II, MSOII and TOII is in progress. This year, arrangements will be made for eligible applicants who had applied for the above six posts but do not possess the requisite CRE and/or BLNST results to take a designated CRE and BLNST tentatively scheduled for December 2 in Hong Kong.
In addition, different departments/grades are planning to conduct recruitment exercises later this year, while a number of grades will conduct year-round recruitment. Different employment opportunities are provided to young people from different disciplines. For details, please refer to the website of the Civil Service Bureau (www.csb.gov.hk).
