Local young pianist Charles Tam to perform at LCSD's "Our Music Talents" Series in September (with photo)

The recital programme covers four works from the 19th and 20th centuries, namely Boulanger's "Vers la vie Nouvelle"; Godowsky's "Study No. 5 in D-flat after Op. 10, No. 3, for left hand alone" (from "53 Studies on Chopin's Etudes"); Albéniz's "La Vega" and Liszt's "Années de pèlerinage II, S. 161".
Tam graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He furthered his study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and is currently a Fellow in Piano Performance at the School, studying under Ronan O'Hora. Tam has won prizes in various international music competitions, including the International Chopin Piano Competition in Asia, the Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition (Hong Kong and Macau Regional Competition) and the Glass Sellers Beethoven Piano Prize Competition, to name a few. He has also given recitals in prestigious venues and festivals, including London's Wigmore Hall and Barbican Centre, Austria's Esterházy Palace and more. His performances have covered Europe and Asia extensively.
"Our Music Talents Series: Piano Recital by Charles Tam" will be staged at 8pm on September 27 (Wednesday) at the Theatre of Hong Kong City Hall.
