The Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York (HKETONY), Ms Candy Nip, congratulated the Hong Kong Association of New York (HKANY) on its 35th anniversary.

Speaking at a celebration party on July 13 (New York time), Ms Nip said the HKANY had been active, supportive and constructive in promoting business exchanges and meaningful engagements between Hong Kong and the United States (US) over the past 35 years. She was grateful for the incredible partnership and friendship between the HKETONY and the HKANY.

Ms Nip pointed out that of the some 9 000 foreign and Mainland companies having establishments in Hong Kong, roughly one of seven was from the US. This highlighted the strong business ties between the two places.

"Hong Kong has been fully reopened to the world since the beginning of this year. Through the resilience and the 'can-do' spirit of our people, Hong Kong is quickly reconnecting with the rest of the world. Not only are we going to return to the pre-pandemic level of prosperity and vibrancy, we are going to be offering even more opportunities for a wide range of businesses," Ms Nip said.

Registered as a non-profit organisation, the HKANY is one of the members of the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide supported by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

The HKANY currently has over 1 500 members and contacts, representing major corporations, professional firms, financial and academic institutions, and small and medium enterprise businesses interested in economic, financial and legal trends affecting Hong Kong, the Pearl River Delta Region, Mainland China and Asia.
