Blake Gardens reopened after refurbishment (with photos)

In collaboration with the Architectural Services Department and the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), the LCSD carried out beautification and renovation works for six ball courts of Blake Gardens to inject art and design elements into the facilities, thereby enhancing the vibrancy and appeal of recreational venues.
Design proposals were provided by students from the HKDI. Such collaboration resulted in community facilities with the theme of "Celebration for All" for local residents. The renovation drew inspiration from various iconic elements surrounding Blake Gardens, such as incorporating the graphics of blue magpies, which symbolise joy and celebration and are often seen in the vicinity, and the skyline of Sheung Wan into the design. Through the use of rich colours, the ball courts are filled with district characteristics, providing users with a new and vibrant environment to do more exercise and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
There are three basketball courts, two soccer pitches and one volleyball court at Blake Gardens. The beautification project commenced in July 2022 in phases, including refurbishment of ball courts surface and spectator stands, and replacement and beautification of fences.
