Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected dangerous drugs worth about $2 million (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs today (April 25) seized about 1.5 kilograms of suspected crack cocaine and about 25 grams of suspected ketamine with a total estimated market value of about $2 million in Cheung Sha Wan. A 24-year-old man suspected to be connected with the case was arrested.

     During an anti-narcotics operation conducted in the vicinity of Cheung Sha Wan this afternoon, Customs intercepted a man. Although no dangerous drugs were found on the man, Customs officers found him suspicious and thus escorted him to a nearby residential premises for a search. Upon inspection, the batch of suspected crack cocaine and suspected ketamine was seized inside the premises and the man was immediately arrested.

     An investigation is ongoing.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
