SITI commences visit in Shenzhen and Guangzhou (with photos)

     The Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor Sun Dong, began his visit in Shenzhen and Guangzhou today (March 30).

     In the morning, Professor Sun, and Member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Shenzhen Municipal Committee Mr Zheng Hongbo co-chaired the Task Force for Hong Kong/Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Cooperation meeting in Shenzhen and had in-depth exchange and discussion on deepening the innovation and technology (I&T) co-operation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Witnessed by Professor Sun and Mr Zheng, the Commissioner for Innovation and Technology, Ms Rebecca Pun, and the Director of Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission, Dr Wang Youming, signed the Arrangement on Comprehensive Promotion of Hong Kong/Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Cooperation in the meeting.

     Professor Sun said, "Through the signing of the Arrangement, I look forward to strengthening high-quality I&T co-operation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen and bolstering collaborative innovation of industries, academia and research and I&T linkage, to support the development of an international I&T centre in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by leveraging on our respective strengths."

     The Permanent Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Mr Eddie Mak; the Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Ms Lillian Cheong; and the Commissioner for Innovation and Technology, Ms Rebecca Pun, also joined the meeting today.
      
     Professor Sun also visited the exhibition centre of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Cooperation Zone and received briefings on the work of the Shenzhen I&T Zone, as well as progress of the planning and development of the Cooperation Zone.
      
     Professor Sun then went to Qianhai and met with Member of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Mr Zeng Pai, and exchanged views on strengthening the linkage between Hong Kong and Shenzhen Qianhai. Professor Sun said that Qianhai is an important co-operation platform between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Hong Kong will take the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone as an entry point to integrate into the national development and further enhance its high-level co-operation with Shenzhen.

     Professor Sun also visited the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone and received a briefing on the development of Hong Kong technology enterprises in Qianhai by representatives from the Qianhai New City Center.

     During his trip, Professor Sun inspected the Shenzhen International Quantum Academy in the Futian District, which focuses on the research and development (R&D) of emerging quantum information technologies and industrial applications. In Qianhai, he visited the Shenzhen office and laboratories of Take2 Health Limited, which provides early nasopharyngeal cancer screening services to promote a wider application of innovative healthcare R&D outcomes. He also toured SmartMore Corporation to learn about the company's cases in developing and applying smart manufacturing and digital intelligence innovation that helped different industries adopt smart production with advanced technologies.
      
     Professor Sun then headed to Nansha, Guangzhou to continue his visit.
