Representatives of 18 District Fight Crime Committees meet with Narcotics Division and experience new facilities of Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre (with photos)

During the exchange session, representatives of the Committees expressed that they would be glad to continue to promote anti-drug work at the district level. This included implementing district-based initiatives on anti-drug education and a publicity programme to promote a clear public understanding on drug harm and hidden drug abuse problems, and better utilising various anti-drug resources of the Narcotics Division at the district level to achieve a synergy effect so as to enable more members of the public, in particular students, to have access to accurate drug information and to stay away from drugs.
The representatives of the Committees also experienced the new exhibits in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre (InfoCentre) including various multimedia facilities and devices, such as an interactive game that detects movements, an imaging device that shows the harmful effects caused by drug abuse, as well as sharing by drug abusers. While the representatives of the Committees expressed appreciation on the revamped InfoCentre and recognised the enhancement of its attractiveness to enrich the experience of visitors, they would also actively motivate different district-based organisations to visit the InfoCentre and participate in the free anti-drug and healthy lifestyle thematic events. These events include guided tours, anti-drug and positive lifestyle events, lunchtime parental talks, parent-child workshops as well as anti-drug training, seminars and exchange sessions.
The InfoCentre, opened in 2004, is located at the roof floor of the Low Block of the Queensway Government Offices. It was temporarily closed for a large-scale renovation from 2021 with a view to upgrading its role and functions in delivering anti-drug preventive education and publicity, and reopened for members of the public to visit free of charge. Different organisations in the community may also use the venue to organise anti-drug related activities. Visitors and different organisations are welcome to visit the InfoCentre and participate in guided tours and other anti-drug activities free of charge during its opening hours, which are from 10am to 6pm on Monday, Tuesday, from Thursday to Sunday, and public holidays. The InfoCentre is closed on Wednesday (except public holidays), and the first and second days of the Lunar New Year. More details and latest information of the InfoCentre could be found from its website (www.druginfocentre.hk/en/index.html). Enquiries could be made by calling 2867 2935 during opening hours or through email at druginfocentre@tungwah.org.hk.
