Government invites consultancy proposals for feasibility study on developing AI Supercomputing Centre

The availability of adequate computing resource infrastructure is a prerequisite for promoting the development of scientific research and AI industries.The Government is exploring the development of an AI Supercomputing Centre in Hong Kong as a major strategic technology infrastructure to provide AI supercomputing services to local universities, research institutes, related government departments and industry sectors, with a view to strengthening the local research and development (R&D) capabilities and advancing related industry ecosystems and accelerating the development of the AI industry and related R&D in Hong Kong. The Government will carry out a feasibility study on the development of an AI supercomputing centre and its related business model to assess and ascertain the actual demand for AI supercomputing services in Hong Kong, the scale of the required investment as well as the best operational model and implementation strategy. The study will be completed within 2023-24.
The deadline for submission of proposals is noon on April 6, 2023. The OGCIO will hold a briefing session on the project on March 2, 2023. Interested consulting firms are welcome to register for the session. Details have been uploaded to the website (www.ogcio.gov.hk/en/our_work/business/tender_eoi_rfp/open_tender_notice.htm). Completed enrolment forms (Annex D of the consultancy brief) should reach the OGCIO by email (datacentre@ogcio.gov.hk ) before 5pm on February 27, 2023.
