Proprietor fined for violation of safety legislation

Amoy Food Limited was fined $78,500 at Shatin Magistrates' Courts today (December 2) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on May 12, 2022, in a factory in Tai Po. While a worker was conducting pre-production preparatory work for a goods stacking machine, the robot arm of the machine suddenly moved and pressed the worker onto part of the machine. The worker was injured and passed away on the same day.
