Mr Liu said at the ceremony that the development of large civil aircraft is a major decision and strategy of the country which also helps to promote the aviation, technological and economic development of the country. The Civil Aviation Department (CAD) of Hong Kong is deeply honoured to be invited by the CAAC to participate in this project and takes much pride in its contribution to the development of the country's aircraft manufacturing industry. The CAD looks forward to continuing its participation in national civil aviation projects and its close collaboration with national aviation experts, with the aim of promoting the quality development of the country's civil aviation industry on different fronts, including the modernisation of industry management as well as the adoption and implementation of international standards.
The C919 aircraft is a large passenger aircraft strictly designed, manufactured and certificated in accordance with international civil aviation standards. The CAD had been actively participating in the C919 evaluation activities (including flight crew qualification specifications, the master minimum equipment list, scheduled maintenance requirements and the passenger cabin emergency evacuation demonstration), and had joined over 80 meetings related to various evaluation boards and expert working groups. Moreover, a CAD flight operations expert has been deployed to Shanghai for two months to take part in the T5 Test.
The C919 aircraft, developed by our country, obtained the CAAC's Type Certificate on September 29, 2022. The aircraft evaluation activities were jointly conducted by the three authorities, including the critical T5 Test in evaluating the flight crew training, were completed successfully today, signifying that the C919 aircraft will soon reach the historical moment of its first aircraft delivery.
Mr Liu congratulated the CAAC and members of various evaluation boards and expert working groups for their substantial achievements on the different aspects of the work. He also expressed his enthusiasm to welcome the C919 aircraft flying over Hong Kong skies.
