The Legislative Council Subcommittee on Issues Relating to the Improvement of Living Conditions of the Grass-roots Tenants visited two transitional housing projects (projects) in Yuen Long today (June 6) to understand the implementation and the works progress of the projects.
Accompanied by the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Frank Chan Fan, Members visited the United Court in Tung Tau and the Pok Oi Kong Ha Wai Village (Phase 1) in Kam Tin respectively. Both projects adopted the Modular Integrated Construction method, providing a total of around 2 580 residential units, with residents started moving-in by phases since last month. Members visited some of the units and met with the residents to see for themselves the living environment, as well as learn more about the ancillary facilities and community services in the area.
Members also exchanged with representatives of the non-government organisations operating the projects. They received briefings on how the projects can improve the living conditions of grass-roots families, as well as the application procedures.
A total of 10 members and non-members of the Subcommittee on Issues Relating to the Improvement of Living Conditions of the Grass-roots Tenants attended the visit.
