Hospital Authority announces seven preliminary positive patient cases detected via admission screening or testing

The Hospital Authority today (February 14) announced the following preliminary positive COVID-19 patient cases detected via admission screening or testing:
An 84-year-old male patient in an orthopaedics and traumatology ward of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital tested preliminarily positive during an admission screening yesterday. The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition. The hospital's infection control team has conducted contact tracing. Seven patients who stayed with the patient concerned in the same cubicle were identified as close contacts and will be isolated for quarantine. Among the patients, one has been discharged and referred to the Department of Health for follow up.
A 28-year-old female patient in an obstetrics ward of Kwong Wah Hospital tested preliminarily positive during an admission screening yesterday. The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition. The hospital's infection control team has conducted contact tracing. One patient who stayed with the patient concerned in the same ward was identified as a close contact and will be isolated for quarantine. In addition, a 51-year-old female patient was admitted to the neurosurgical ward on February 10. She tested preliminarily positive during the contact tracing screening on February 12. The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition. The hospital's infection control team has conducted contact tracing for this case. Three patients who stayed with the patient concerned in the same cubicle were identified as close contacts. Two of them were discharged. The hospital has reported to the Centre for Health Protection for follow-up. The remaining patient is now being isolated for quarantine.
A 77-year-old male patient in a surgical ward of Caritas Medical Centre tested preliminarily positive during an admission screening yesterday. The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition. The hospital's infection control team has conducted contact tracing. Seven patients who stayed with the patient concerned in the same cubicle were identified as close contacts and will be isolated for quarantine.
A 79-year-old male patient in an orthopaedics and traumatology ward of Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital tested negative during an admission screening on February 10. After the admission, the patient tested preliminarily positive yesterday during a regular test. The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition. The hospital's infection control team has conducted contact tracing. Seven patients who stayed with the patient concerned in the same cubicle were identified as close contacts and will be isolated for quarantine
A 54-year-old male patient in a surgical medical ward of North District Hospital tested preliminarily positive during an admission screening yesterday. The hospital's infection control team has conducted contact tracing. Five patients who stayed with the patient concerned in the same cubicle were identified as close contacts and will be isolated for quarantine. The patient concerned was discharged based on his clinical condition before the testing result was available. In addition, a 51-year-old male patient in an orthopaedic ward was discharged on February 11. He then tested preliminarily positive yesterday for the enhanced screening for attending day service. The hospital's infection control team has conducted contact tracing. Six patients who stayed with the patient concerned earlier in the same cubicle were identified as close contacts and will be isolated for quarantine. The Centre for Health Protection will continue to follow up on the discharged cases concerned.
Thorough cleaning and disinfection operations have been performed in the affected areas by the hospitals. The hospitals will continue to communicate with the Centre for Health Protection on the latest situation.
