Suspension of services at TD's licensing office in Admiralty from November 10 to 11
***********************************************************************************
The Transport Department (TD) today (November 10) said that in relation to a person who had visited the Hong Kong Licensing Office on the third floor of the United Centre, Admiralty, and had been preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19, the Government exercised the power under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Compulsory Testing for Certain Persons) Regulation (Cap. 599J) and published in the Gazette a compulsory testing notice, which requires any person who had been present at the premises at any time during the period from 2pm to 6pm on October 19 or from noon to 3pm on November 8 has to undergo an COVID-19 nucleic acid test. The Hong Kong Licensing Office, Public Vehicles Unit, Vehicle Records Office and Driving-offence Points Office on the same premises will suspend services starting from today (November 10). Public services of the offices will be resumed on November 12.

Members of the public are advised to go to the TD's licensing offices in Cheung Sha Wan, Kwun Tong and Sha Tin for general licensing services (e.g. renewal of driving licence/ vehicle licence) or to submit applications via the drop-in boxes placed at the Hong Kong Licensing Office, by post or through online application.

Applicants who have made an appointment for renewal of a full driving licence/vehicle licence, transfer of vehicle ownership, application for an international driving permit, or retention, transfer or assignment of vehicle registration mark, at any timeslot during the suspension of service may proceed to the Hong Kong Licensing Office to submit their applications during opening hours (from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday) within five working days after the resumption of services without the need to make another appointment.

The TD has arranged all staff of that office to undergo COVID-19 testing. For enquiries during the closure of the office, please contact the TD by calling the enquiry hotline 2804 2600.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, the TD has been strictly implementing various disease prevention measures, including requesting all members of the public entering the TD's licensing offices to undergo on-the-spot body temperature checks. Any member of the public whose body temperature is higher than 37.5 degrees Celsius or who refuses to undergo a body temperature check will be denied entry to the premises. The staff on site will also request members of the public to wear masks, clean their hands with alcohol-based sanitiser before entering the premises and wear masks at all times in the premises.

The TD will continue to maintain close liaison with the Centre for Health Protection (CHP), actively co-operate with CHP's quarantine arrangements and has also reminded its staff members to pay attention to personal hygiene and stay vigilant. Staff members have been reminded to seek medical advice and inform the department as soon as possible if feeling unwell.
