Kidd Pivot to stage "Revisor" on big screen in September
******************************************************************
"Revisor" was created by choreographer Crystal Pite and playwright Jonathon Young. They have revised an archetypal comic plot, "The Government Inspector" by Nikolai Gogol, to serve as the basis for the choreography in a true hybrid of contemporary theatre and dance, which was awarded "Best Modern Choreography" in the National Dance Awards 2020. In "Revisor", eight incredible dancers embody the recorded dialogue of some of Canada's finest actors, exploring conflict, comedy and corruption in a potent relationship between language and the body.
Pite is a critically acclaimed Canadian choreographer. Hailed for her work with The Royal Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet and Nederlands Dans Theater, she is a shining star on the contemporary dance scene. As the artistic director and founder of Kidd Pivot, she uses her exceptional talent for combining dance, visual arts and theatre to create dazzling productions.
Canadian actor and writer Young has co-created over 20 original productions with the Electric Company Theatre. He has collaborated with Pite on the creation of four projects including "Betroffenheit", which won the 2017 Laurence Olivier Award for "Best New Dance Production" and for which Young was also awarded "Outstanding Performance in Modern Dance" at the National Dance Awards. He is a recipient of several Jessie Richardson Awards for acting and writing.
