Let me say a few words in English.

It is my great pleasure to be invited to officiate at the Grand Final of the 36th Sing Tao Inter-School Debating Competition. I would like to express my warmest appreciation to the Sing Tao News Corporation for organising this annual debating competition. It has become an iconic annual academic event among secondary schools in Hong Kong, and has indeed helped nurture generations of young talents for our future.

The contestants today have gone through five rounds of preliminary, quarter-final and semi-final events before reaching the Grand Final today. This must be a tough experience. I am sure that through this process, you have polished a wide range of important skills, such as critical thinking, resilience, communication, language and teamwork. You have also enriched your knowledge in current affairs through extensive research.

I believe that the debates have offered invaluable opportunities for all of you to unleash and realise your potential. This has not only broadened your horizons but also equipped you with a host of skills that would prove to be useful as you pursue further studies, as you develop your careers, and as you become future leaders of our community.

On this note, I wish all of you good health, every success and happiness. Thank you.
