HA approves measures to further rationalise allocation of public rental housing resources
*****************************************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Authority:

The Hong Kong Housing Authority's Subsidised Housing Committee (SHC) today (September 20) discussed measures aimed at further rationalising the allocation of public rental housing (PRH) resources to ensure that PRH resources are used to assist those with more pressing housing needs.

Under the current policy, if general applicants are currently living in PRH, their applications for PRH with all household members living in PRH would be frozen for one year. However, applications under the three elderly priority schemes (Single Elderly Persons Priority Scheme, Elderly Persons Priority Scheme and Harmonious Families Priority Scheme) are exempted.

At today's meeting, the SHC decided to remove the exemption. A frozen period as that of ordinary families, i.e. one year, will be applied. The measure will not have any effect on the average waiting time of PRH applicants.
