************************************************************
ýÿThe Intangible Cultural Heritage Office (ICHO) will hold a fun day entitled "Take a Closer Look at ICH" at the Sam Tung Uk Museum this Saturday (September 30). With a wide array of interesting activities, the event aims to showcase and promote a variety of Hong Kong intangible cultural heritage (ICH) items. Members of the public are welcome and admission is free.
The fun day will be held from 2pm to 5pm with highlights such as Cantonese opera demonstrations, unicorn colouring and King of the Ghosts face mask drawing workshops. ICH food and drinks stalls will also be set up. A video programme entitled "ICH Legacy: Passing on with Passions" will be screened and ICH tours will also be arranged for visitors to learn about ICH items.
The first Representative List of the ICH of Hong Kong was announced in August 2017, including 10 local items which have been inscribed onto the national list of ICH, namely Cantonese opera, herbal tea, the Cheung Chau Jiao Festival, the Tai O dragon boat water parade, the Yu Lan Ghost Festival of the Hong Kong Chiu Chow community, the Mid-Autumn Festival Tai Hang fire dragon dance, the arts of the guqin (the craft of qin making), Quanzhen temples Taoist ritual music, the Hakka unicorn dance in Hang Hau in Sai Kung, and Wong Tai Sin belief and customs. The fun day will explore the unique attractiveness of these 10 items in interactive and experiential ways.
The fun day is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and organised by the ICHO. For details, please visit ICHO's website at www.lcsd.gov.hk/ICHO, or call 2411 2001 for enquiries.
