Public Libraries to introduce e-services in Book Fair kiosk

Located at 1A-B37 on the 1/F, the HKPL's kiosk will have notebook computers and tablets to let visitors experience the convenience of accessing its e-resources, including different e-book collections. Staff will be present to provide information.
The HKPL recently launched two popular Chinese e-book collections, namely HyRead and SUEP, allowing reading online or offline with downloads to personal computers and mobile devices. Readers can enjoy the fun of reading from the collections anytime and anywhere.
The HyRead and SUEP e-book collections offer Chinese books published in Taiwan and Hong Kong respectively, including leisure and popular reading materials which cater for readers' day-to-day interests. Readers particularly favour novels, such as "The Legend of Wisely" by Ni Kuang, "You are the Apple of My Eye" and "Café·Waiting·Love" by Giddens Ko, and titles by Mong Fung and Zita Law.
Travel buffs will be delighted by the rich variety of popular travel guides in the two e-book collections, with topics ranging from local trips to distinctive tourism, which can help readers plan fascinating journeys.
For English e-books, the eBooks on EBSCOhost collection contains a wide range of good reads. Readers are fond of the original novels for films and TV series, including "Star Wars", "Me Before You", "The Martian", "The Maze Runner" and "A Game of Thrones".
Books for children and teenagers, such as "Doraemon", "Detective Conan", "A to Z Mysteries" and "Peanuts", are also available in the above e-book collections.
Besides catering to leisure and hobby reading, audio books can help readers learn foreign languages. The audio books in the Naxos Spoken Word Library are mainly streamed in English, while some are in French, German or Portuguese. Most of the works come with synchronised full-text display on the screen. Readers may read while listening to the audio books in order to enhance their reading, listening and pronunciation skills in one go. Moreover, literary classics like William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", Charles Dickens' "A Tale of Two Cities" and Carlo Collodi's "The Adventures of Pinocchio" can be enjoyed in a more lively way.
