The investigation team of the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) today (June 23) released the Serious Incident Bulletin 2/2017 in relation to the serious incident on May 24 involving an Airbus A321 aircraft (registration mark B-6366) operated by China Eastern Airlines Corporation Limited. After the aircraft touched down Runway 25R of the Hong Kong International Airport on that day, Air Traffic Control (ATC) cleared it to vacate the runway via taxiway A4. When the aircraft was abeam taxiway A3, it deviated from the runway centerline and veered off to the right hand side, and subsequently stopped with its nose landing gear and right main landing gear rested on the grass off the right hand side of Runway 25R.

     A spokesperson for the CAD said that the bulletin contains information relating to the serious incident as determined up to the time of issue, and must be regarded as tentative.

     "The investigation team will continue with the investigation and will conduct more in-depth analysis of the relevant data and information collected and study all relevant information in order to determine the circumstances and causes of the serious incident," the spokesperson said.
