ýÿThe prize presentation ceremony for the Taxi Driver Commendation Scheme 2016 jointly organised by the Quality Taxi Services Steering Committee (QTSSC) and the Transport Department (TD) was held today (January 25) to present Quality Taxi Driver awards to six drivers in recognition of their quality taxi services provided to passengers.
Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony, Chairman of the QTSSC and member of the Transport Advisory Committee Ms Agnes Nardi said that the ceremony not only provided an opportunity to commend the good performance of quality taxi drivers, but also promoted a positive image of taxi drivers amongst the public. She appealed the taxi trade to strive for continuous enhancement of taxi services.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Commissioner for Transport, Mrs Ingrid Yeung, said she appreciated the tireless efforts made by the taxi trade in the past year to enhance the quality of taxi services, for example launching a mobile application for hailing taxis, increasing the fleet size for pre-booked taxi services of higher quality and arranging training programmes to assist interested drivers to join the taxi industry. She also appealed to the taxi trade to put up more service enhancement measures so as to benefit the public.
A total of six drivers were given Quality Taxi Driver awards this year. The reasons for their nomination included returning lost property to passengers in person, good driving attitude, helping passengers proactively and being sincere and polite to passengers. Meanwhile, the Certificate of Appreciation for Quality Taxi Service was presented to two other drivers to recognise their good services.
The Taxi Driver Commendation Scheme receives nomination all year round. Nominations will be assessed by the QTSSC based on the driving record, conduct, on-job training record, good behaviour being commended and passengers' satisfaction on taxi services provided by the driver concerned.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from the websites of the QTSSC (www.qtssc.org.hk) and the TD (www.td.gov.hk), or obtained by calling the TD's hotline (Tel: 2804 2600).
