Correctional officers stop fighting among persons in custody and combat against violence incident

Correctional officers stopped a fight among eight persons in custody at Shek Pik Prison this morning (December 10).
At 10am, a fight broke out among eight male persons in custody while working in the carpentry workshop. Officers at the scene immediately stopped them and called for reinforcements. All the eight persons in custody sustained minor injuries during the fight. They were treated at the centre hospital and needed not be transferred to public hospital. The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
In order to assist persons in custody to rehabilitate under a safe and orderly environment, the Correctional Services Department spares no effort in combating against violence incident of any kind in its institutions and deployed correctional officers to reinforce Shek Pik Prison in conducting searching operation on the same day.
Shek Pik Prison is a maximum security prison for the detention of male adult persons in custody.
