Dance Day to be held at Yuen Long Theatre on December 11 (with photos)
**********************************************************************
The event will showcase different generations of dance artists and dance groups in a wide variety of dance performances of different genres. “Appreciation” is the theme of this year’s Dance Day. Members of the public will be able to appreciate different types and styles of dance performances, while dance artists can share ideas and thoughts about their performances with each other and the public. Local dance artist Andy Wong is the Event Advisor for Dance Day. Chiu Chow Yingge Dance Troupe of Yuen Long will participate in the opening parade. The performers will demonstrate their unique and energetic dance style wearing costumes of characters in the classic novel “The Water Margin” of the Ming Dynasty.
A variety of entertaining programmes will include a parade, a variety of different dance genres, environmental dance performances, sharing sessions, exhibitions and workshops. There will also be a “U Can Dance!” free dancing zone, where everyone is welcome to join in and enjoy the fun of dancing.
The LCSD first held Dance Day in 2009 with an aim of promoting dance art to the public while at the same time providing a platform for local dance artists and small and medium-sized dance groups to perform. Previous Dance Days were held in Tsuen Wan, Yuen Long, Central and Western District, Sha Tin and Tuen Mun, and all received overwhelming public responses, effectively raising public interest, especially among the younger generation, towards various forms of dance.
