STH visits Islands District (with photos)

     The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, met with Islands District Council (IDC) members and visited Islands District to tour community services facilities in Tung Chung this afternoon (September 28).

     Professor Cheung first had a meeting with the District Council members to exchange views with them on issues relating to transport and housing. Accompanied by the Chairman of the IDC, Mr Chow Yuk-tong, and the District Officer (Islands), Mr Anthony Li, Professor Cheung then visited Tung Chung to see the transport and housing developments in the district.

     He later toured the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council's TOUCH - Support Service Centre for Ethnic Minorities in the Tung Chung Community Services Complex. Funded by the Government, the centre provides services for the ethnic minorities, including after-school tutorial classes and cultural exchange activities, to help them integrate into the community. Professor Cheung also had a chat with youths from the district to learn about their daily lives.
