Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies to stage award-winning play "Funny Money" for third time
******************************************************************************************
The Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies will stage the third run of its award-winning play "Funny Money” in November. "Funny Money" is adapted from a play of the same title by British comedy master Ray Cooney.

The premiere of the play received four awards at the 14th Hong Kong Drama Awards, namely Best Director (Comedy/Farce), Best Stage Design, Best Sound Design and Top Ten Most Popular Performances.

The story begins with lead character Leung Kwong-cheong discovering on a train a briefcase full of cash that belongs to a criminal gang. To keep the $1 million of dirty money, Leung and his wife Kam-shan intend to flee. However, the situation becomes complicated when detective Wah of Sha Tau Kok, taxi driver Bill, Leung's best friend Ping and his wife, inspector Tong of Sha Tin and "Mr Big" from a Hunan criminal gang visit Leung's house. The interaction of these rival groups results in a hilarious battle for money.

The strong creative team of this production includes popular veteran actor Chung King-fai as the artistic director; Szeto Wai-kin, who has written numerous translated plays performed to full houses locally, as the translator and adapter; and Henry Fong, who received Best Director (Comedy/Farce) for this play, as the director. The main cast includes Alan Yeung, who received Best Actor (Comedy/Farce); theatre acting newcomers Johnny Tan, Au Tsz-fei, Pamela Sze and Chau Ka-lun; and experienced actors Yip Chun, Luther Fung and Samuel Yau.
