Hong Kong Customs seizes smartphones at Man Kam To Control Point (with photos)

Customs officers conducted Customs clearance on an outgoing container truck at Man Kam To Control Point yesterday afternoon and found a batch of unmanifested smartphones in a false compartment next to the oil tank of the container truck. The 66-year-old male driver was arrested and put on bail pending further investigation. The container truck was detained for further examination.
Smuggling is a serious offence. Under the Import and Export Ordinance, any person found guilty of exporting unmanifested cargo is liable to a maximum fine of $2 million and imprisonment for seven years.
