CSSA caseload for July

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in July showed a drop of 482 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent compared with that of June, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (August 22).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of July stood at 240 654 (see attached table), with a total of 357 783 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.7 per cent and 0.9 per cent to 5 686 cases and 15 219 cases respectively. Old age cases and permanent disability cases both dropped by 0.2 per cent to 145 158 cases and 17 693 cases respectively.

     Single parent cases and ill health cases remained steady at 27 950 cases and 24 338 cases respectively.
