Immigration Department follows up incident of Hong Kong residents being attacked in Würzburg of Germany

     Regarding the incident of Hong Kong residents being attacked in a train in Würzburg, Germany, the Hong Kong Immigration Department (ImmD) continued to maintain close contact with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (OCMFA), the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Germany, the Consulates-General of the People’s Republic of China in Munich and Frankfurt, the Embassy of Germany in Beijing, the Consulate-General of Germany in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin (HKETO) to understand the situation and follow up the case. 

     Since arriving in Germany, officers of the ImmD has been accompanying the family members, including visiting the four injured in the hospitals and meeting with the medical officers to understand their latest situation and ensuring that appropriate medical care is provided to them.  Accompanied by officers of the ImmD, some family members had returned to Hong Kong this afternoon (July 30).  The four injured will continue to stay in the hospital for medical treatment and officers of the ImmD will stay in Germany to continue rendering assistance to the injured and the family members.

     The ImmD will continue to closely liaise with OCMFA, the Embassies, the Consulates-General, the HKETO, the injured and their families to follow up the case. The ImmD advises Hong Kong residents already there to attend to personal safety.
