Young people invited to express views on discussion topics for Youth Summit 2016
***************************************************************
Starting from today (July 27), young people are invited to express their views by using the website of the Commission on Youth (www.coy.gov.hk) to select topics for in-depth discussion at the Youth Summit 2016.
The Home Affairs Bureau and the Commission on Youth will host the Youth Summit 2016 on November 26 to provide a platform for young people to exchange views on issues of concern with government representatives and guests. The theme of the Summit is "Tomorrow's Hong Kong, Youth Co-create". Discussion topics will be chosen to facilitate more in-depth exchanges.
To enhance youth participation, an exercise is being conducted for young people to choose three discussion topics out of the following 10 proposed topics for in-depth discussion:
* Challenges and opportunities for young entrepreneurs
* Climate change and the development of environmental industries
* Prospects for advanced technology industries and creative industries
* Should university programmes be linked to the demand in the employment market?
* Future town planning
* Roles of young people in community affairs
* Challenges and opportunities for the Mainland and Hong Kong arising from globalisation
* Development of Hong Kong pop culture
* Development of Hong Kong arts education
* Mental health of young people
The three most popular topics will become the discussion topics at the Youth Summit 2016.
The collection of views exercise will end at midnight on August 16. Details about the recruitment of youth participants for the Youth Summit will be announced separately in due course.
