The spokesperson of New Territories East Cluster made the following announcement today (April 1):
A total of eight patients (aged 22 to 62) of a male psychiatric ward at Tai Po Hospital and two staff members had presented with upper respiratory symptoms since March 21. Appropriate tests were arranged for the patients and the test results were negative for Influenza A and B. Results of other tests for the patients are pending. The patients have been treated under isolation and are in stable condition. The staff members have recovered and resumed duty.
In addition, eight patients (aged 21 to 66) and two staff members in a female psychiatric acute admission ward at the Shatin Hospital had presented with respiratory symptoms since March 22. Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patients and the results are pending. The patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition. One of staff members has recovered and resumed duty. The other one is currently on leave.
Restricted visiting to and discharge from the wards concerned has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up. All other patients in the wards are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
