The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, subsequent to earlier detection of the import into and sale in Hong Kong of a batch of Mars Snickers Miniatures product suspected to contain pieces of plastic, today (March 3) received a notification from the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed of the European Commission (RASFF) that another kind of affected Snickers product has been imported into Hong Kong. The CFS urged the public not to consume the affected product.

A spokesman for the CFS said that based on the information provided by the RASFF, the CFS had contacted the importer concerned, CIAO International Limited, and learned that the import quantity of the affected product was 135 cartons, and that some of the product had been distributed to its retail outlets, Best Mart 360กใ, for sale. The remaining stock of 98 cartons of the affected product, being kept in the importer's warehouse, has been marked and sealed by the CFS. According to the information provided by the importer, its retail outlets have stopped sale and removed the affected product from shelves. A recall has also been initiated. Members of the public who have bought the affected product are urged not to consume it. They may call the importer's hotline at 3916 1862 during office hours for enquiries about the recall.
The CFS will alert the trade to the incident and will continue to closely monitor the case and take appropriate follow-up action. Investigation is ongoing.
