SCS continues visit to Singapore (with photos)

     The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Clement Cheung, continued his visit to Singapore today (March 3).

     Mr Cheung first met with Singapore's Head of Civil Service, Mr Peter Ong, to exchange views on the management, training and development of the civil service. At noon, Mr Cheung attended a lunch hosted by the Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Singapore, Mr Eddie Teo, in which they discussed how to select the most deserving talent for the civil service and safeguard the impartiality and integrity of appointments and promotions.

     Mr Cheung then met with the Permanent Secretary (Public Service Division), Prime Minister's Office, Ms Yong Ying-I and learned more about the work of the Division. During the meeting, they exchanged views on issues including civil service reform, leadership training and development for civil servants, as well as civil service retirement and staff deployment.

     In the evening, Mr Cheung visited the Civil Service College of Singapore. The College aims to develop first-class civil servants and provides a series of programmes on leadership, policy development and public administration for public service officers in Singapore.

     Mr Cheung will continue his visit tomorrow (March 4), meeting with senior officials and visiting the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
