The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The Hospital Authority (HA) today (December 29) announces that the 13 holiday general out-patient clinics (see appended list) will remain open at the coming New Year Holiday on Friday (January 1, 2016). Members of the public are reminded to make advance booking through the telephone system as usual for an appointment. There will be a new holiday clinic, Aberdeen Jockey Club General Out-patient Clinic, to meet the primary healthcare demand of the community.
The HA spokesman added that the Accident & Emergency (A&E) Department in public hospitals will also operate as usual during the holiday to serve the patients with urgent medical needs. Hong Kong is entering the winter peak season of influenza. In anticipation of a higher demand on A&E service by the general public during the holiday and the first working day following the holiday, a well-established triage system is in place to ensure priority treatment for patients with critical or emergency condition while semi-urgent or non-urgent patients might have to wait longer before receiving treatment.
The spokesman also appeals to patients for understanding and cooperation while waiting at the A&E Departments. Non-urgent patients should consider attending the general out-patient clinics or private doctors for consultation.
The information of holiday clinic service within the district will be posted at prominent locations in all A&E Departments. Members of the public are also welcome to call the HA Infoline (2882 4866) for the service information on holiday GOPC, or to browse the Primary Care Directory of the Department of Health at www.pcdirectory.gov.hk, or to download the mobile App of "Primary Care Directory" to choose the appropriate family medicine doctor and the related clinic service information.
