Aviation passenger fuel surcharges
**********************************

The Civil Aviation Department (CAD) today (November 20) announced the passenger fuel surcharges for the period from December 1 to 31, 2015.

The maximum levels of fuel surcharges for December 2015 will be maintained at $25 for short-haul flights and $112 for long-haul flights.

Passenger fuel surcharges seek to allow airlines to partially recover the increase in operational costs due to fluctuations in aviation fuel prices. As the aeronautical authority in Hong Kong, the CAD considers and approves fuel surcharge applications from the airlines in accordance with bilateral Air Services Agreements.

Passenger fuel surcharges are reviewed by the CAD on a monthly basis. The applicable surcharge levels are based on the ticket issue date. The approved fuel surcharge levels of individual airlines have been published on the CAD's website (www.cad.gov.hk/english/fuel_surcharge.htm).
