The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present two pop concerts entitled "Vintage Garden" in December.
Led by famous music director Chiu Tsang-hei and featuring singer Raymond Young, erhu performer Chan Pik-sum, violinist Andrew Ling and a cappella group Sound Of Singers, "Vintage Garden" will re-interpret a number of widely loved Chinese and Western favourites including songs by the Beatles, Jacky Cheung, Billy Joel, Eason Chan, Josh Groban, Roman Tam, Barry Manilow and Alan Tam. With new arrangements and editing mixed with classical music, Chinese music and a cappella, the shows will appeal to audiences of all ages.
Chiu began his music career in 1986 and has been part of the local music scene ever since. He has worked in music composition, music arrangement, producing, music directing of pop concerts and film scoring. He is highly skilled in popular and classical music and in high demand as a music director of pop concerts. He won Best Original Film Score at the Hong Kong Film Awards for his work in "Comrades: Almost a Love Story".
Raymond Young has a strong passion for music and the art of singing. He also works as a composer and lyricist. In 2015, his first recital and his collaboration with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and singer Teresa Cheung on classic Cantonese tunes were widely praised.
"Vintage Garden" will be staged at 8pm on December 23 (Wednesday) at the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall and at 8pm on December 26 (Saturday) at the Auditorium of Tuen Mun Town Hall.
