Canada's Cirque Éloize to arrive in December with circus "iD" (with photos)
*******************************************************

Cirque Éloize from Canada will arrive in Hong Kong in late December to perform its latest circus act "iD". Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), this is the first presentation of the LCSD's "Circus in Town" programme.

Canada's Montreal Gazette described "iD" as "West Side Story gone hip hop circus". "iD" is a blend of circus arts and urban dance including b-boying, breakdance, hip-hop and more. Featuring 10 different circus acts, "iD" showcases skills such as juggling, contortion, in-line skating, stilts, Cyr wheel, hand balancing, straps, bike trial, Chinese pole and aerial silks, building to a spectacular finale on the dynamic trampowall.

The scene is set in the heart of a city, a public space where people can forge an identity and express individuality, with a kaleidoscope of eye-popping video projections drawn from science fiction films, comic books and graffiti.

Founded in 1993, Cirque Éloize has become a leader in contemporary circus arts. With 10 original productions to its credit, Cirque Éloize has performed in 40 countries in more than 4,000 performances. "iD" is its seventh original production but the first in which Cirque Éloize has integrated multimedia, giving the show a unique feel which is both entertaining and resolutely universal.

Canada's Cirque Éloize will stage "iD" from December 30 to January 3, 2016 (Wednesday to Sunday) at the Grand Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Tickets priced from $120 to $380 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). For telephone credit card bookings, please call 2111 5999.

Cirque Éloize will also perform an abridged version of "iD" outdoors at Piazza C of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on January 3, 2016 (Sunday) at 2.30pm. Admission is free. Members of the public are invited to take this chance for a sneak peek into the world of Cirque Éloize's "iD", which has been specially made for Hong Kong.
