On July 1, Hong Kong became the first Asian city to require ocean-going vessels to switch to cleaner fuels while at berth - one of several measures aimed at clearing the air in the Pearl River Delta region.
The Environmental Protection Department is also taking crucial steps to curb our city's roadside pollution - which has an even more direct impact on public health.
News.gov.hk spoke with the department's Pollution Control Officer, Ms Teresa Fung, and Assistant Environmental Protection Officer, Mr Michael Lau, about the positive influence these measures have had on improving air quality.
