The spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth Hospital made the following appeal today (August 10) regarding an in-patient found missing:
A male patient aged 84 with dementia was admitted to medical ward in Queen Elizabeth Hospital on August 7. He went missing today at around 1pm. Hospital security guards were mobilised to search within the hospital compound but these efforts were in vain. The hospital reported to the Police for assistance on the same day. Patient's relatives were informed of this incident.
The patient is about 1.7 metres tall and of strong build. He has black hair and with normal mobility. He was last seen wearing patient top, with brown trousers and grey jacket.
The hospital appeals to the public to contact the Police or call the hospital hotline at 3506 8944 if they know the whereabouts of the patient.
The Hospital has reported the incident to the Hospital Authority Head Office via the Advanced Incidents Reporting System. The hospital will continue to fully cooperate with the Police to locate the patient. Patient Relations Officer will provide necessary assistance to the patient's family.
