Correctional officers stop assault by remand persons in custody

     Correctional Services officers stopped several remand persons in custody assaulting another remand person in custody in Lo Wu Correctional Institution yesterday (May 13).

     At 9.26am, officers on duty saw a 32-year-old female remand person in custody being attacked by eight other female remand persons in custody, aged between 22 and 46, inside a garment workshop. The officers immediately stopped the assault and called for reinforcement. The victim sustained back injury and was escorted to the centre hospital for examination and treatment.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The eight assailants were remanded for the offences of trafficking in dangerous drugs and burglary separately, while the victim was remanded for the offence of trafficking in dangerous drugs.
