The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, inspected the 75th Recruits Passing-out Parade of the Civil Aid Service (CAS), comprising 16 officers and 175 members, at CAS Headquarters today (December 7).
Speaking at the parade, Mrs Lam said that the CAS, as an auxiliary emergency service under the Government, has been doing its utmost to provide services for local people during natural disasters and emergencies for over 60 years. Even in normal days, the CAS also assists different departments in performing various duties such as mountain search and rescue, flood and hill fire fighting and crowd management. She noted that the CAS has established two non-Chinese-speaking cadet platoons recently to extend its efforts in promoting an inclusive and harmonious society.
Mrs Lam said she hoped that the graduates will fully capitalise on the knowledge and skills learned during training and uphold the CAS spirit of "Providing Emergency Relief, Serving the Community" to contribute to Hong Kong.
The graduates have completed stringent training in the past six months and will be posted to different units.
